What is Assertiveness?

Assertiveness
Definition: The quality of bring self assured and confident without being aggressive.

“We despise and abhor the bully, the brawler, the oppressor, whether in private or public life, but we despise no less the coward and the voluptuary. No man is worth calling a man who will not fight rather than submit to infamy or see those that are dear to him suffer wrong.”
― Theodore Roosevelt
Reflection: This quote that Teddy Roosevelt is talking about how a man should not be call a man if they do not have the confidence to stand up for himself. Man would rather submit than try to keep on going through. No matter what life you live always be assertive to keep going in life.
Example: Positive Inquiry
Sender:
“You made an excellent meal tonight, it was delicious!”
Receiver:
“Thanks. Yes, it was good. What did you like about it in particular?”
This is different from a passive response that may have been:
"It was no effort" or "It was just a standard recipe"
